Item default values

Overview

Item default values can be used to:

  1. Set values for board columns that are not displayed on the form

  2. Set the board group the response should be saved to

Currently, Easyform supports default values for board group, status, dropdown and Connect Boards columns. We are continuously adding support for more column types.

You can use this feature to:

  1. Save a form submission into a specific group (for example, save it into a New leads board group)

  2. Set a specific initial status for the submitted response (for example, set a Status column to To contact)

  3. If you added multiple forms to a board, record the form the submission came from using a dropdown column (for example, set a Form dropdown column to English form)

  4. Create a request form for a pre-selected client (for example, set a Clients Connect Boards column to a specific client).

Opening the item default values setting

Select Item default values from the Settings menu:

Setting a value for the hidden item's group

To save the form submission to a specific board group, first remove the group field from the form:

And then select the group to save the response to from the Value for Group dropdown:

The form response will be saved to the group you selected:

Setting a value for a hidden status column

To set a value for a hidden Status column in the form submission, first remove the Status column from the form:

And then select the Status from the Value for Status dropdown:

The form submission Status column will be set to the value you selected:

You can use this feature, among other things, to record the form the submission came from using a Source dropdown column.

To set a value for a hidden Dropdown column in the form submission, first remove the Dropdown column from the form:

And then select the value from the Value for Column Name dropdown column:

The form submission dropdown column will be set to the value you selected:

Setting a value for a Connect Boards column

To set a value for a hidden Connect Boards column in the form submission, first remove the Connect Boards column from the form:

The form submission Connect Boards column will be set to the value you selected:
